Dogfighting - A Sport for Idiots
I want to start this out by saying that I have nothing against Pit Bulls. If trained well and with the right purpose, they are great pets.
Last night, my wife and I were watching CSI. Dogfighting was a big part of the story line. It reminded me of how much I hate dogfighting. As a pet owner and a pet enthusiast, I cannot believe the stupidity and cruelty of those that breed and train dogs to fight.

Dogfighting is a sadistic and idiotic contest in which two dogs are placed in a pit to fight each other for the spectators’ entertainment. Often, the spectators gamble on the outcome of the fight. Fights average nearly an hour in length and often last more than two hours. Dogfights end when one of the dogs will not or cannot continue.
The dogs that fight sustain severe injuries that are sometimes fatal. Dogs used in these events often die of shock, blood loss, dehydration, exhaustion, or infection hours or even days after the fight.
What person in their right mind would participate in such an act? In the words of Oklahoma State University football coach Mike Gundy, it’s garbage… it makes me want to puke. That is all I have to say about that.

Ragdoll Cat Breed
It is no secret that I have an affection for Ragdoll cats. I have a two year old Ragdoll named Massimo. He is a beautiful cat with a great personality. We jokingly call him a dog cat. He loves to play and he loves to cuddle with his mom. He will not leave her side when she is home.

Ragdolls are large, docile cats. Males can weigh close to 25 pounds full grown. They are muscular with an overall impression of elegance and balance. They have a medium-long, non-matting coat with a soft texture. It takes two years for their full coat to develop.
Ragdolls are non-aggressive and love to be with people. While being a long-haired cat, Ragdolls do not need the constant grooming associated with breeds such as the Persian. The Ragdoll is also good with children and is easy to introduce into a multi-pet household. Massimo has integrated well with the pets of our family and friends.

A few Massimoisms… Every night when my wife goes up stairs to go to bed, Massimo runs after her. He sleeps in between my wife and me every night. He comes to the front door everyday when I get home from work to greet me. He often brings us his toys when he wants to play. He loves to fetch and he loves the surprise attack. He is a good pet and a great friend.
For your next cat, consider a Ragdoll. Tell us about your cat.
